University of Michigan Health continues to advance its statewide strategy by expanding specialty care and outpatient services through significant new investments and partnerships. A $40 million gift from Kenneth Eisenberg is fueling construction of the Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg Troy Center for Specialty Care, Michigan Medicine’s first major facility in Oakland County. Set to open in spring 2027 at the former Kmart headquarters in Troy, the multidisciplinary center will provide residents of southeast Michigan with easier access to advanced care in cancer treatment, musculoskeletal and sports medicine, reproductive medicine, diagnostic imaging and outpatient surgery. The Eisenberg gift also strengthens research at the Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg and Family Depression Center, supporting large-scale research initiatives and new endowed professorships focused on depression prevention.

In west Michigan, the Regents approved a partnership between UM Health-West and Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan for a joint ambulatory surgery center located in Wyoming. The new facility, expected in 2027, will expand outpatient orthopedic care, offering more convenient and cost-effective surgical options and strengthen UM Health-West’s long-term partnership with OAM. The Regents also cleared the way for the expansion of UM Health-West Cancer Center by acquiring a nearby medical office building and enhancing access to oncology services through the Cancer Network of West Michigan.

To meet the growing needs of the Grand Ledge region, UM Health–Sparrow will build a 45,000-square-foot health care center offering urgent care, laboratory and pharmacy services, primary care, specialty care and advanced imaging. With a design focused on sustainability and LEED certification, the new facility aims to bring high-quality care closer to the communities U-M serves.

These initiatives position U-M Health as a leader in patient-centered care, medical innovation and health equity throughout Michigan.
